New Member Program
The whirlwind of going through Recruitment, being extended a bid and then joining Kappa for life can be exciting and overwhelming at the same time. Kappa gives our new sisters a warm welcome by extending friendship and mutual support through our new member program.
The new member period is a time to learn about the Fraternity and educate women on the expectations and requirements of being a Kappa. Each new member is given a Big Sister to guide her through this new stage of her life. New members also attend a retreat to foster and develop the new friendships and connections within the chapter.
The new member period is a time for our new members to learn about the Fraternity history and become educated on the expectations and requirements of being a Kappa woman. After recruitment and our bid day celebration, women who have been extended a bid to Kappa will go through an 8-week long new member program. We use this time to guide each new member as they adapt to life at UCSB in addition to life as a sorority woman. All new members attend a retreat to foster and develop new friendships and connections within the chapter, before each receiving a Big Sister to help guide her through this new stage in life. New members will also attend weekly chapter meetings, new member meetings, and an Inspiration period.
These first few weeks as a new member are the most exciting and special part of being in Kappa, and were one of the best parts of my college experience. I met some of the most genuine, charismatic, driven and intelligent people I have ever known, including my best friends in Kappa and at UCSB. As the New Member Chairman of Epsilon Psi, I am fortunate enough to get to coordinate and guide this new member period, and I cant wait to share my love of Kappa and help all our new members become a part of our Kappa family and transition into the amazing life found here in Santa Barbara!
