Academics

Joining a sorority in college is a life-changing experience, but garnering an education is the top priority for Kappa. This is why each chapter is expected to maintain academic standards equal to or higher than their university’s or college’s all-sorority GPA. Additionally, each chapter establishes a GPA requirement for active members. 

If a Kappa struggles academically, we help her through it. The Academic Excellence Team meets with her to craft an improvement plan using study tactics and time management. We want each sister to leave college with what they came for: a degree.

The Academic team is a group of fellow Kappa sisters who confidentially aid our members by providing them with academic assistance such as organizing weekly study hours at the chapter house, helping with time management skills, booking weekly library study rooms, providing class and schedule guidance, and sending extra support during midterms and finals. Our goal is for every sister not only to graduate with a degree, but to thrive academically and pursue excellence in her field of study.

We take pride in celebrating our members’ academic accomplishments. Sisters who earn high grades on challenging assignments are recognized during chapter meetings with small prizes, and members who achieve a 4.0 GPA at the end of the quarter receive an academic pearl dangle to wear on their KKG key pin.

UCSB’s distinguished academic reputation comes with meaningful challenges, and we are committed to supporting every Kappa with the tools, encouragement, and resources she needs to succeed in her chosen major and future career. We hold our academics in the highest regard and strive to cultivate a strong community of KKGeniuses.
