Chapter Recruitment

Hi, I’m Narineh, Vice President of Membership for Kappa Kappa Gamma at UCSB!

Joining Kappa freshman year is one of the most impactful decisions I ever made. It grounded

me during a time of transition but also expanded my opportunities, broadened my perspective,

and introduced me to lifelong friendships. My choice to join the leadership and step into the role

of VPM definitely stemmed from my own recruitment experience, as well as my desire to help

others find the same sense of belonging and joy I have discovered here at Kappa.

As a first-generation college student who knew nothing about Greek life, recruitment was

extremely daunting to me. However, each time I stepped foot into Kappa, I felt an immediate

sense of comfort–something I desperately was searching for as a freshman. I was always

excited to come back to Kappa and that feeling has never left. Each individual I have met

through Kappa continues to inspire me with their intellect, ambition, and unwavering, kindness.

Their wit and warmth, constantly remind me why I chose, and continue to choose to be a

member of Kappa.

I take pride in knowing that I am a part of an organization that pushes their members to grow

into the best versions of themselves. Whether that is through leadership, service, academics, or

human connection, Kappa has always been a place that uplifts its members and the community

that surrounds it.

I know that even when I graduate, I will always look back on Kappa as an essential piece of my

college experience. From meeting my big at big-little reveal to living in the house with my best

friends, the memories I have made here are truly unforgettable.

My advice to those who are debating going through Panhellenic recruitment would be that it

never hurts to try. If I had let my doubt and anxiety overrule my interest in Greek Life, I would

have missed out on true lifelong connections and extraordinary experiences. To me, Kappa is

more than just an organization I list on a piece of paper, it is truly my home away from home

filled with unique and inspiring people.
